On December 7th, 2022, Riverside Spa will host our 13th annual day of Guilt Free Pampering in support of the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation, where 100% of the fees collected from all services are donated to the hospital. We would like to thank everyone who supported our event over the past 12 years for helping us to assist the more than 75 thousand children and families receiving care each year at the hospital.

Furthering our development of a seventeen-year relationship with CAUSE Canada, we are pleased to announce our ongoing commitment to support their efforts in 2023. CAUSE Canada is based in Calgary and takes a holistic approach to helping children and their families in the developing world break free from the cycle of poverty.
In 2009 and 2011, Riverside Spa built two schools in Sierra Leone; one in the village of Kabala and the second in the village of Senekedugu, where the previous school buildings could no longer safely accommodate the growing number of students.
In 2012, Riverside Spa built three birthing huts in two districts of Sierra Leone in order to help combat high infant and maternal mortality rates in these regions.
In the interest of “bridging the gap” between our previous areas of involvement, in 2013 and 2014 Riverside Spa was pleased to support CAUSE Canada’s “API, PLUMP BABIES” Infant Nutrition Program. This life-saving initiative aimed to provide rural communities with nutritional monitoring services for infants, refer acutely malnourished babies to feeding rehabilitation centers and to train mothers on proper nutrition and breastfeeding.
In response to the devastating Ebola crisis that affected much of West Africa, Riverside Spa’s involvement with CAUSE Canada in 2015 focused on the Sierra Leone School Rehabilitation and Nutrition Project. As the Ebola crisis decreased in strength and severity, the new program sought to meet post-Ebola recovery needs in the areas of education and nutrition for students. In preparation for the re-opening of 7 CAUSE Kids Schools, the project aimed to help the schools meet the strict pre-opening requirements set out by the Government of Sierra Leone, such as risk assessment for disease, maintenance and repairs, furniture, latrines and wells. Once schools were deemed safe to re-open, this initiative assisted in re-starting the CAUSE Kids Nutrition Program, providing one hot meal per day to all students.
In 2018, Riverside Spa was pleased to contribute to CAUSE Canada’s efforts to help the CAUSE Kids program move towards providing quality education, thereby helping children to achieve effective and relevant learning outcomes.
In 2016, 2017 and again in 2019, Riverside Spa contributed to CAUSE Canada’s Peer Literacy Program. Teenage girls, who would not otherwise be able to remain in school, receive support for school fees, uniforms and additional computer training in exchange for tutoring younger students to become stronger readers. Girls participating in this program receive a month of training in August to prepare them for their roles.
