COVID-19 Update

In order to do our part in continuing to keep our staff and community safe as Alberta opens back up, the Riverside Spa team have been working hard to come up with ways to maintain social distancing while bringing the same standard of service and care to our guests.

Guest Services & Retail Sales

We are currently open for retail sales both in store and curbside pickup, gift certificate sales and booking appointments starting June 19th, 2020.

Spa Services

Massage Therapy and Esthetics services are currently reopening June 19th, 2020.

Mask Protocols

Common Areas

Guests are asked to bring and will be REQUIRED to wear a mask completely covering their mouth and nose while they are moving around the common areas within Riverside Spa. This includes all hallways, changerooms, washrooms, pedicure area and while moving around the lounge. Guests may remove their face mask while seated in the lounge. As per recommendations made by the government of Canada, guests are asked to please bring a resealable plastic bag to store their mask in while it is not being worn.

Pedicures & Manicures

Guests will be required to wear a mask completely covering their mouth and nose while in for a pedicure and/or manicure.

Facials

Once in a treatment room, guests will remove their mask prior to getting onto the treatment bed. As per recommendations made by the government of Canada, guests are asked to please bring a resealable plastic bag to store their mask in while it is not being worn. After treatment guests will use provided hand sanitizer and must put on their face mask prior to leaving the treatment room.

Massage Therapy

Staff

Riverside Spa technicians and attendants will be required to wear a surgical/procedural/non-medical mask at all times while within Riverside Spa. Estheticians will be required to wear a surgical/procedural mask and a face shield for treatments including facials and facial waxing. Massage therapists will be required to wear a surgical/procedural mask and face shield at any point during a massage treatment where their guest is facing upwards and is not masked. Guest Services will remain behind plexiglass barriers or wear a surgical/procedural/non-medical mask.

Screening

Guest Screening

Riverside Spa will be sending out an email reminding guests that if they have travelled outside of Canada, have been in close contact with someone who has travelled or have any of the common COVID symptoms, they will not be permitted into the facility. Symptoms include: fever, a new cough or chronic cough that has worsened, new or worsening shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, sore throat, runny nose.

Staff Screening

Staff will be screened daily prior to arriving at the facility and will not be permitted to come to work if they are experiencing any of the common COVID symptoms.

Facility Modifications

50% Capacity:

Riverside Spa will be operating at 50% capacity to allow guests who wish to stay and relax, the space in which to do so. We have reconfigured some of our lounge furniture to ensure that there are options for those who come on their own to remain at least 2m apart, while those who come together may sit together if they choose.

Steam Rooms Closed:

Our steam rooms are currently closed based on the Alberta government relaunch guidance and will not be operational until it is safe to do so.

Food & Beverage Services:

We still have an offering of water and lemonade for guests to enjoy, although those will now be stationed at the front desk.

Social Distancing Markers:

Things throughout the facility look a little bit different, there are markings on the floor to indicate 2m boxes at the front desk and in the change rooms, as well as one-way indicators in the hallway to avoid crossover.

Facial Care Tester Bar & Product Returns:

We have temporarily removed our complimentary tester bar and instead are offering sealed single-use samples to safely smell products prior to purchasing or to test/reapply products while in for services. We strongly recommend sampling products in this way prior to purchasing as all sales will be final.

Cleaning and Sanitizing

We continue to use the medical-grade Accel wipes and spray solutions which we have been using for years; all treatment rooms, the lounge area and change rooms will be sanitized constantly, as they always have been. We have new signage in the lounge for guests to indicate where they were seated to ensure that our Spa Attendants and other guests know which seats have been used and which have been freshly sanitized. The front desk has been fitted with plexiglass for mutual protection, pin-pads will be sanitized prior to each use and all other high touch areas around the front desk and lobby will be sanitized hourly. We ask everyone coming into our facility to use the hand sanitizer at the door as they enter. We have hand sanitizer at the front desk, in the lounge and treatment rooms as well as sinks for hand washing in the change rooms.
